Case Study: Coca-Cola Plus One App Redesign

Overview

We partnered with Coca-Cola to evolve it from a static brand hub into a mobile-first loyalty platform. The goal was to build a personalized experience that encouraged users to explore and engage with multiple Coca-Cola brands while embedding accessibility and inclusivity into the product's foundation,

My Role

I led the product design effort within a cross-functional agile squad, working alongside UX and UI designers, developers, product managers, and client stakeholders. My responsibilities included:

  • Leading the design team and managing alignment with stakeholders

  • Collaborating with developers to ensure technical feasibility

  • Driving design decisions from discovery through delivery

  • Leading accessibility compliance efforts (WCAG 2.2) across all user flows

Product Discovery Process

We followed a structured discovery phase to understand user needs, technical limitations, and business objectives. Key activities included:

  • Stakeholder interviews to align on goals and constraints

  • User research and behavioral analysis to identify pain points

  • Competitive benchmarking to understand market expectations

  • Design ideation and co-creation workshops with internal teams

  • Usability testing to validate concepts early and often

A pivotal moment came when we needed to simplify the loyalty interface. The initial concept was compelling but technically over-complex. Working closely with engineers, we streamlined the design into a more scalable and user-friendly solution that still met business goals.

Accessibility Leadership

As the Lead Accessibility Designer, I ensured

  • All designs complied with WCAG 2.2 standards

  • Accessibility specs and annotations were delivered to developers

  • The team was prepared for audit sessions with complete assets

  • We resolved 93 accessibility issues across platforms before launch

Results & Impact

The redesigned app launched successfully and delivered strong results:

  • +30% increase in user engagement

  • +25% boost in user satisfaction

  • 78% accessibility audit pass rate across platforms
